The hearing of the charge against Joseph Foster, who was brought back to England from New Zealand on the charge of being concerned in the robbery of a mail-bag containing £IO,OOO from the Cardiff-London express, has resumed. Bowley, the guard of the train, gave evidence • that Foster sat near the mail-van. Bowley fetched him sodawater and accepted two- whiskies from him. Witness was absent for several minutes. He left the sliding door locked, but it could be opened with a strong knife. The bag might have been hidden under the seat. Bowley' left the train at Reading and Foster continued the journey.
