YOUNG BLAKE’S PROSPECT

VOUNG BLAKE has long * been recognised as among the first flight of sq uare - gaiters in the Dominion, and after his fine achievement in the Trotting Stakes at Forbury Park in 1923, he was heralded as a budding champion. He won several good handicaps and then had a lean period, but at National time Young Blake began to show an appreciable return to his better days. Twice he finished in second berth, each time registering encouraging performances. The Wildwood Junr. gelding was then brought to Auckland for the spring fixture where, on the opening day, he won the Mountain Trot, handsomely defeating Trampfast, who the next time out was destined to record the splendid time of 4.30 for two miles. On 48 yards next Tuesday, Young Blake looks to have excellent prospects of lifting the thick end of the richly-endowed Dominion Handicap.
