THE GALLEON

When, with splendour, matchless and divine, The tired sun sinks below the line, And all the hues of sunset are unfurled, Then from her haven behind the hill, Where all is dim and quiet and still, The silver moon looks down upon the world. Then like a galleon of old she sails Across the bright and starlit trails, tier destination, the enchanted west . She glides ever onward in a lifelong trance, Telling of nights of rapture and romance Until she, too, retires and takes her rest. —George Boyle (aged 14).
