NEW BATH HOUSES
ROTORUA’S URGENT NEED MR. HQCKLY’S REQUEST (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Bath houses at Rotorua are urgently in need of reconstruction, according to Mr. F. F. Hockly, member for the district, who urged the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. K. S. Williams, in the House this evening to give attention to the question. Mr. Hockly pointed out that the present bath houses were in an unsatisfactory state owing to chemical action. Last year £5,000 was voted for the reconstruction of bath houses, and this year there was only £2,000, but be hoped the Minister would spend all the money he was asking the House to vote. Mr. H. E. Holland, Leader of the Opposition: How much was spent out of the £5,000 last year? Mr. Hockly: £22. I don’t complain as far as the Minister is concerned in that he has not spent money in attempting to bolster up and improve the bath houses. I hope he will embark on a comprehensive policy and give us new .buildings.
