BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS LEAGUE INCREASED ACTIVITY URGED Press Association. DUNEDIN, Friday. At a meeting of the Otago provincial executive of the New Zealand Bible-in-Schools League to-day the following resolution was carried unanimously: (1) This executive of the league calls on all branches to carry on their work with increased activity, undaunted by the recent postponement of success, and to be more determined than ever to end the present impasse. Attention is drawn to the growth in the league’s organisation. The membership has more than doubled in the last few months. (2) The result of the parents’ plebiscite in New Zealand showed that 81 per cent., and in the Otago province 86 per cent., of the votes favoured the Bill. (3) The nature of the opposition in in Parliament, which has not supported the existing system so much as diverted support to alternative schemes of religious education, was sufficient to gain thereby in Parliament a temporary tactical advantage, but admitting the unsatisfactory nature of education without religion. (4) The growing dissatisfaction of leaders of education in New Zealand with the national system, that makes no adequate provision for the recognition of God and the use of the Bible in education.
