ASSAULT CHARGE
TE PAPAPA ARREST MAN HIT ON HEAD A well-known resident of Te Papapa, Charles C. Sandford, appeared at the Police. Court, Onehunga, this morning, o na charge of assaulting Melville C. H. Barnett, also of l e Papapa. Messrs. J. E. Green and J. Laking, J.P.’s, presidde. Sergeant J. A. Cruickshand prosecuted. It was stated that Miss Sandford, dauhgter of the defendant, spent an evening with Mr. and Mrs. Barnett recently. When they took her home it is stated that Sandford hit Barnett, knocking him on the ground and inflicting injuries to the right eye and to the head. Dr. W. H. Thomas was called and attended the injured man. On the application of Sergeant Cruickshank the case was adjourned until November 21. Bail was allowed in self £SO and one surety of £SO.
