MONS VETERANS
ASSOCIATION FORMED The screening of the British film, “Mons,” at the Strand Theatre this week, proved of great interest to exservicemen in more ways than one—it was also a reunion of Mons veterans. As a result of an invitation to veterans to attend the initial screening, it was learned that there were about 30 Mons men residing in Auckland. Mr. P. C. Furley, house manager of the Strand, interested himself in a proposal to form an association, >and at a meetmg held at the theatre it was decided to do this with the object of holding a social function. Mr. J. Dawson was elected president, and Mr. W. C. Pilgrim secretary. In view of the interest he had taken in the formation of the association, Mr. Furley was elected vice-president. The association is now endeavouring to locate any other servicemen who were in the famous retreat of 1914.
