Kiely out-boxed his opponent almost throughout the fight, his longrange punches not suiting the New Zealander’s style. The latter made great efforts to make up the leeway ; in the concluding rounds, but Kiely | had too big a margin and won com- ! fortably. At the Stadium Tiger Payne j knocked out Charlie Clietwind in the | 10th round. Payne had the advantage from the start and with a whirlwind attack, defeated his opponent.— a. and N.Z.
TROWERN BEATS PEARCE
OPPONENT DISQUALIFIED “THE RABBIT-KILLER” NEWCASTLE, Friday. In a boxing match this evening at the Stadium ITeg. Trowern, New Zealand, 9st 131 b, defeated Jimmy Pearce, 10st 41b. Half-way through the 16th round Pearce was disqualified for using the “rabbit-killer” punch. He was warned several times, and when he again offended the referee took action.. The contest was fast and clever. Trowern was ahead on points when liis opponent was disqualified.—A. and N.Z.
