HARBOUR BRIDGE

QUESTION OF SITE ADVICE TO BE OBTAINED With a view to making a recommendation at the next meeting to be held early in December, the Auckland Harbour Bridge Committee last evening authorised a sub-committee to confer with three engineering firms as to the location of the proposed bridge. It was considered that the time had arrived when the question of site should be dealt with, as it was an important factor in estimating the cost. Also that the nature of the bed of the harbour should be ascertained by borings, and that when the route was suggested the Auckland Harbour Board should be approached for its assistance in having a survey of the harbour bed made. Proposed methods of finance were outlined and these will be considered at a later meeting.
