TRAINING NOTES FROM WHANGAREI
YESTERDAY’S TRACK DOINGS (Special to THE SUE’.) WHANGAREI, To-day. Comet King has again been put on the easy list, owing to his having received cuts from a stray bottle. This bad luck for his owner-trainer, Mr. W. McKenzie, as his horse can now be regarded as an unlikely starter at the coming Whangarei meeting. Maungataraire and Adjure were companions over five furlongs vesterday morning, the former showing to advantage. Just Quietly, Houhora and Mountain Sun were sprinted over four furlongs and finished in the order named. Furore, who is certainly on the improve. went once round by himself, and jumping off at the half-mile post, registered 52 2-5 for the distance. This horse is improving with every gallop, and should be one of the picks for the County Handicap. Illingar and Exalted cantered to the five furlongs post. Jumping off together, they were abreast till the straight was reached, when Illingar drew away to win easily by t.wo lengths, the time taken being 1.411. Joke Form went once round at a good three-quarter pace, moving very freely. He is in nice condition, and should run prominently at the meetGazerin. the half-sister to Illingar, went once round, sprinting home the last two furlongs. This mare, by Gazeley, may still want a little more time, but should show up before long. Suntoar, by Cooltrim —Sibar, this morning at the Koatanui stud. Wanganui. threw a filly foal to Thespian (Absurd —Leta). Sunbar is the property of the well-known local sportsman, Mr. R. G. Hosking.
