PRINCESS
“BROADWAY NIGHTS”
Many stories have been woven about the bright lights of Broadway, but “Broadway Nights,” now showing at the Princess Theatre must take pride of place. This colourful and highly romantic story of theatre and club life marks a new era in picture production. Lois Wilson, portrays the principal role with the usual skill and artistry. She has supporting her Philip Strange, Louis J. Bartels, and Sam Hardy. The story is in lighter vein than usual, and takes the audience through a maze of happenings of the theatre world. A young girl enters upon the stage with ambitions. Just how those ambitions are realised makes up the story. By way of .contrast the second production is a murder mystery. “Held by the Law,” with Johnnie Walker, Marguerite de la Motte, Ralph Lewis, Maude Wayne and others. This is a powerful and mystifying drama which holds its solution until the dramatic climax in the prison cell. There is a good supporting programme of topical pictures and a comedy.
Fink and Ayres, the novelty skaters, who have been appearing at the New Regent during the week, will be transferred to the Princess for two days only commencing to-night. On a special level platform the bigger man swings his partner about in a most amazing fashion. Then the agile one locks his heels, skates and all behind the head of the partner in whom he has such confidence.
and round they spin after the fashion of acrobatic dancers. But that is not all, for with a loop round one anklt3 that he fastens to a swivel on the big man’s chest, a marvellous daredevil whirl winds up the act.
