GAMING BILL BEFORE HOUSE ON MONDAY
LONG DISCUSSION ANTICIPATED ON SECOND READING
(THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) v WELLINGTON, To-day. It is learned that Sir George Hunter’s Gaming' Amendment Bill, which is anticipated by members of the House of Representatives as the subject for one of the longest debates of the session, will probably appear before the House for the second reading on Monday evening next. It depends upon how much time the Government will give to the measure as to how its progress through the House will be, but it is evident that the proposals to regulate totalisator betting by telegraph and to allow the publication of dividends will create a great deal of discussion among tho members. It is believed that the Gaming Bill will be decided on a non-party vote in the House as the ranks of all factions are split on the merits of its provisions.
