WELL-KNOWN MAN FACES TRIAL BIG THEFT CHARGES Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Wednesday. At the Police Court Ernest Maben Gilmour, well known in business and athletic circles, was committed for trial on charges of theft of sums totalling £1,500 from Emily Clark, widow, who died early this year. The defence was that Gilmour held a power of attorney under which he drew money, which he had a perfect right to do. On a, further charge of theft of £250 he was also committed for trial.
