EARLY ARRIVAL’S DEATH

REAL ESTATE IN SIXTIES The death at Napier of Mrs. Clara Smith, wife of Mr. F. G. Smith, senr., removes another link with early Auckland. The late Mrs. Smith, then a Miss Newbigin, arrived in Auckland in the early 60’s, and she and her brothers, only one of whom now survives, owned Queen Street property when it could be purchased for a song. They had come to New Zealand in the ship Ardbeg, which was 17 weeks on the voyage.
