DIXIELAND BATHS COUNCIL AGAIN PROTESTS Suggesting that an inquiry be before “the perpetration of such at injury to the public interest.” the Parta Committee of the City Council yesterday passed a resolution protestini against the proposed erection of swin. ming baths at Point Chevalier by Dixit land, Limited. It was resolved that copies of tht following: resolution be sent to thf Prime Minister, the Minister a Marine, the member for the district, Mr. M. G. R. Mason, and all local members of Parliament: Having regard to the recent Suprena Court decision, the heavy expenditun incurred by the council for reereatiot grounds on the beach frontage at Poia: Chevalier, and the programme for further extensive developments for tin benefit of people visiting the distric; the Auckland City Council Parks Committee views with the greatest disfavour the proposal to grant perniisswi to erect baths on the beach in fron: of Dixieland Cabaret. The operations of the Harbour Boar! and. recently, of the Railways Department, have deprived the public of » number of beach areas close to tb* city. This renders the preservation «£ the Point Chevalier beach doubly necessary for the thousands of city peoplwho take their pleasure there durisc week-ends and holidays. The eo®* mittee therefore suggests that an inquiry be held before the perpetration a such an injury to the public interest
