DEMAND FOR RENT RESISTED WITH GUN

EMPTY BUT ALARMING

Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. As a result of a disturbance in a Durham Street house last night, David Taylor, aged 38, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence to-day on a charge of presenting a firearm at his landlord, Thomas Budson, and was fined £4 and costs for assault. The evidence showed that, the firearm was empty, though cartridges were nearby. Taylor was excited with drink and objected to the landlord giving his notice to quit.
