ASSOCIATION'S ACTIVITIES
The office of the association is still engaged on the preparation of the latest issue of the maps, which will probably be available about the beginning of December. The annual road guide should be ready for distribution in about ten days’ time. An experiment in the use of “cats’eye” signs, authorised at the last meet-* ing of 'the council, is being made in the Domain Drive. Through the courtesy of Signs, Ltd., Auckland’s agents for these “cats’-eye” signs, an experimental one was fitted up last night, . The recent complaint of the association regarding the wearing of the shoulders of the concrete on the Great North Eoad, has now been answered by the local bodies concerned. Much of the work has already been attended to and promises made for the speedy completion of the remainder. The service officer recently made a survey of the road between Hamilton and Auckland, and reports generally improved road surfaces throughout. Even the bad pieces on the Rangiriri deviation and the heavy surfaces near Ohinewai are greatly improved, although still far from perfect. He reports that the condition of the road through Huntly to be still as had as ever.
