NO ANALOGY WITH FASHION IN SKIRTS

CADET OBJECTS TO SHORTS (From Our Own Correspondent) WANGANUI, To-day. “While ladies seem to have no concern in regard to * the shortening of skirts, there appears to be a decided objection on the part of some lads to getting into ‘shorts.’ ” When a defaulting cadet came before the Magistrate’s Court to-day for failing to attend drill, counsel explained for a fairly old looking boy that his grudge was that after wearing long trousers all day he had to go down to parade in “shorts.” The magistrate suggested to counsel that he should get a picture of Baden-Powell and the Duke of York in “shorts” and show it to the defendant. Counsel replied that while on active service he was only too pleased to wear “shorts.”
