r< URI OU S circumstances surround the theft of some rolls of cloth from a tailor’s shop in Dominion Road on Saturday night. It is thought that a motorcar was waiting in a side street to take the thieves away. At 11.30 o’clock on Saturday night a heavy plate-glass window in Mr. J. Speir’s shop was smashed in and several valuable rolls of cloths were snatched by thieves. They made off down Elizabeth Street, which joins Dominion Road near the shop, and got into a motor car which made off. It is believed that cloth valued at about £SO was taken. The proprietor of the shop and others in the | vicinity were attracted by 1 the crash of the breaking glass.
