GOVERNOR-GENERAL LEAVES FOR SOUTH

fIiHE Governor-General, Sir * Charles Fergusson, and Lady Alice Fergusson left for Wellington last evening after a short visit to Auckland. Lady Augusta Inskip, a sister of her Excellency, and Captain Orr-Ewing, A.D.C., were among the party. His Excellency laid the founda-tion-stone of the new Beresford Street Congregational Church Sunday School on Saturday afternoon and opened the new quarters of the officers’ Club in the evening. Lady Alice Fergusson and Lady Augusta Inskip were present at a private view which opened the third annual exhibition of the Auckland Sketch Club on Saturday evening.
