ALMOST LOWEST RECORDED Although, during 1926, the United kingdom added 175,000 souls to its total Population, the number of births in finsland and "Wales, 694,563, was, with tfte exception of 1918, the lowest on record. This fact appears in the statistical review of the Registrar-General tor 1926. issued during the week-end. gives t,le total population at 190,000. Other outstanding facts in report include the following: Marriages in England and Wales totalled 279.860—0.9 per 1,000 below and 1917 excepted, the lowest «nce 1886. Divorces totalled 2,554, a decrease of June. The actual number of births was e ss than that in 1860, when the population of England and Wales was half that at present. Illegitimate births totalled 29,591, an increase of 695. The proportion of male to 1,000 «male births was 1,041. ■tolie a- Were on the autumn register d’ooo 54 Parliamentary voters — men, and 5.364,826 women.
