SEASONS CLOSED MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB The official season of the Alayngakiekie Golf Club closed on Saturday. In the usual mixed foursomes Airs. C. Robinson and Rex George and Airs. J. Russell and E. F. Burns tied, 4 up. The links were in perfect order, and a very fine afternoon’s play was enjoyed. This was followed by a dinner and dance in the clubhouse. During the evening prizes won during the season were presented by Airs. G. L. Taylor, the president’s wife. Air. Taylor, during the ceremony, remarked that the season had been successful in every way, except perhaps in that of weather. During the season the alterations planned by Dr. AlcKenzie had been commenced, and it was hoped that these would be practically completed, and the new greens sown, by next March. Occasion was also taken to present Sloan Alorpeth with a silver cigarettecase and a suitcase as an appreciation of his having brought New Zealand honours to the club for the first time. There will be approach and putting competitions and continuous putting, commencing at 13 o’clock. The prizes won during the season will be presented by the president, Mrs. G. A. Gvibbin.
