GRAFTON’S GOOD START
HORSPOOL IN FORM Grafton made a good start for the first match of the season, played at King’s College, and Parnell will have something to do in catching the first inning’s score of 268. Horspool (87) was the chief scorer, his innings being a dashing one. He opened slowly and then, once he got the bowling set, opened out in great style. He hit 12 fours and a six. and his initial display promises improvement as the season advances. Pope played a more canny bat, but he got 39 while he faced the bowlers. Once Horspool broke the partnership the remainder of the team dropped quickly. C. A. Snedden opened promisingly. but he was unlucky to put a ball high, Duncan holding it well. The
other batsmen wore not good enough for the bowling and quickly succumbed. While not exceptional, the bowling was good. Anthony was consistent and sent a good ball down. Aitken did not do so badly, but was inclined to be on the leg too much. The game will be continued next Saturday and it will be interesting to see what Parnell can do with the Grafton bowlers.
