FIRE AT PUKEKOHE
A LUCKY SAVE EXPLOSIVES ON PREMISES (From Our Own Correspoyident) PUKEKOHE. To-day. An outbreak of fire occurred in the coal-shed at the rear of the premises of Messrs Perkins Company, storekeepers, about five o’clock this morning. The fire had a firm hold when the brigade arrived, but the flames were quickly suppressed before much damage was done. . Through the presence of mind of one of the staff a quantity of detonators stored in adjoining and unused premlises weer removed. At the time a strong westerly hro f** was blowing but the brigade prevented the flames spreading to several near sheds in which were hay, tar, car s, motor-car and farm machinerj.
