(Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. With the Oamaru and Greymouth fixtures over, interest is now centred in operations connected with the metropolitan fixture, which opens at Addington on November 8, and at wich the New Zealand Cup is the great event Audacious has been doing a lot of solid work at Lauriston, and evervthing points to him being one of the tough ones for the others to beat in the Xew Zealand Trotting Cup. The Canterbury Park Trotting Club, and the New Zealand Metropolitan llotting Club, have gone halves in the PLl £ cl i ase of a tractor > which in future will be employed in hauling the various implements necessary to keep the race track and training track in tiptop order at Addington. QUEEN’S OWN’S INJURY The Cup candidate, Queen’s Own. had to be stopped in her work for a couple of weeks pending a recovery from an injury to one of her knees, which was caused by a kick from one of her companions. Her trainer hopes er Hie Post in November. W hispering Willie never seems to get old. He is trotting as fast as ever he did. Avenger has been responsible for some good work at New Brighton. Y oung Blake is cheerio, and W. J. Tomkinson lias the right key to him. Final McKinney is among the favourites for the first “leg” at Addington. ANOTHER RETA PETER? Escapade is trotting great guns at -._c\v Brighton. It will be no surprise if she leads all the way in the Cup Sea Pearl is just right after her trip to Auckland, but will she go as well at Addington? Peter Swift is acting well in his work, and should help to maintain the stable this season. Silk Thread has furnished into a stofit pacer, and he is going well with the hopples on. Logan Chief is pacing as good as ever he did, but some days he acts as if he had a headache. Concliff is at it again, and he must come right. When he does he will reward his popular owner with a stake or two. GREAT BINGEN’S CONDITION Great Bingen is still carrying a lot of condition, and his trainer may not be able to screw him up in time for the Cup. After he completes another four work-outs one will be able to more accurately assess his condition. Talaro will keep them busy in the Cup. Orphan landed two races at Greymouth, and now that he has learnt to leave the mark correctly he will soon win again. Royal Authoress is a speedy filly,.
and but for stepping off on the wrong leg at Greymoutli she may have won. Quality is getting sense, and she is racing with plenty of determination. Two seconds came her way at mouthHOTTER THAN EVER Cardinal Logan won two races at Grey mouth. He is hotter than ever for the Trotting Cup. Petronius is a half-sister to Onyx, and she won at Greymouih as if she will pick up another stake later on. Peter Bingen s shares for the Trotting Cup have fallen considerably. H« failed badly at Greymoutli. The “heads” were too good for Golden Devon at Greymoutli. Clasi will tell. Nobody w ants to be on Acron in th* Cup after his Greymoutli exhibition. The Coasters have a good word for Merrijigs. A merry Christmas for him! Lady Matclilight is acting like a promising pacer. She won at Grey mouth, and should train on to pre* vail in better company later in the season. Huon Denver just played with th« opposition at Oamaru. He has only to “kick out” right to win again. Chimer had everything his own way at Oamaru, and won easily. FINAL McKINPIEY O.K. Those who saw Final McKinney 3 at Oamaru will be saving up for Aia* ington.
