No Recommendation. —No recommendation was made by the Defence Committee of the House ot Representatives reporting on the petition of R. B. Brickell, of the War Veterans' Home, Auckland, who sought a compassionate allowance on account of service in the Maori Wars. Brickell joined the militia at the age of 15, and after over six years’ active service, deserted for the sake of his young wife and child.
