SECRETARY HONOURED

LODGE PRESENTATION After 28 years’ service, with the Star of Auckland Lodge, 1.0.0. F., Bro. F. T. Harding, secretary to, the lodge, was j honoured at a social evening in the ; Pitt Street Hall last evening. There was a very large attendance, and Bro. Harding was presented with a veterans’ jewel as a slight token of the esteem in which he is held by members of the lodge. Mr. W. E. "Watkins, !N".G., said that Bro. Harding joined the lodge on September 21, 1899, and he held various offices ever since. He was Auckland District Deputy Grand Master from 1909 to 1911, and again from 1914-15. He has represented Auckland at Grand Lodge on two occasions, and in 1914 he j was elected financial secretary, a position he has held ever since, nearly 14 j years. Mr. Harding has been installed j 27 times. Mr. Watkins explained that in 1914 the total funds of the lodge amounted to £2,050. To-day they were £2,670. During Mr. Harding’s term of office as financial secretary he had handled over £20,000. Bro. M. J. Hooper, District DeputyGrand Sire of Australasia, then presented the jewel to Bro. Harding, who thanked the members for the gift.
