AUCKLAND CENTRE MEETS PROSPECTS FOR THIS SEASON “Members can congratulate themselves on the financial position ajid the business conducted during the year,” said Mr. T. C. Hobbs-Jone*. chairman, at the annual meeting of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Swimming Association last evening. He said the New Zealand championships had been carried through with decided success, and had been the cause for praise from not only the visitors, but also from many prominent buiness men in the city. It was to be expected that following such a good season, that the coming year would be even more satisfactory. • The centre's thanks were due to Mr. H. Moore, secretary, and Mr. E. A. Edenborough. treasurer for their untiring and capable efforts in the interests of the association. “I hope that this year will see us working in harmony and making a highly successful season,” concluded the chairman, “and with the Parnell. Grammar and Devonport Clubs in a better position than before the season should be one of the best.” The balance sheet showed the finances to be in a healthy state. The season closed with a credit balance of £240 15s 2d. The Waitemata Swimming Club was granted permission to open the season with a carnival on Tuesday evening. November 22. Permission was granted the Parnell Swimming Club to hold a carnival on Tuesday, December 13. It was unanimously decided to reinstate C. J. Sainty, who was last year suspended for a breach of the association’s rules. SERVICES RECOGNISED Mr. J. (“Scotty”) Davidson was appointed a life member as a tribute to his sterling efforts in swimming circles. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron. Mr. G. Baildon: president, Mr. E. H. Potter; vice-presi-dents, Mr. H. R. Mackenzie and last year’s re-elected; chairman of centre. Mr. T. C. Hobbs-Jones; vice-chair-man, Me. J. Enwright; hon. treasurer, Mr. C. A. Edenborough; hon. secretary, Mr. H. Moore; hon. educational officer. Mr. L. Brighton: handicapper, Mr. H. Moore; starter, Mr. S. Kronfeld: local officer, Mr. D. Mulvihill; timekeeper. Mr. J. K. Douglas; outside auditor. Mr. P. R. Fraser; inside auditor, Mr. R. X. Sheffield; delegate to New Zealand Council, Mr. J. W. Toomey; executive committee, nine members, one from each club; hon. medical officer. Dr. T. W. Petitt.
