T IKE everybody else, footballers have their superstitions. For instance, it is seldom that anyone displays any great eagerness to accept a No. 13 jersey. At Carlaw Park on Saturday Tim Peckham might have been pardoned for not playing at all. In two previous charity day matches, the nuggety little Ponsonby half had to be carried off with a broken leg, and although the last time was in Hamilton three years ago, Tim was still wondering on Saturday if his luck would still play him false. However, “the third tim e * s lucky,” and Peckham came through Saturday’s match without an injury of any sort- In fact, considering the hardness of the ground, the game was singularly free of casualties.
