Loose Covers
ROOMS COOL BUT BRIGHT People are realising that the use d£ loose covers accomplishes something more than economy and protection. They are also an aid to comfort and coolness. So, at this season of the year, when the very sight of heavilyupholstered furniture is rendered oppressive by the warmth of the weather, when the most worn and shabby pieces cry out to be freshened by crisp chintz coverings, it is a real joy to indulge in the luxury of loose covers, knowing that not only are we giving a permanent charm to our rooms, but ensuring their coolness as well. Depending on just what effect 13 desired in planning the scheme of a room that is to be smartly covered, the loose covers may be chosen from fabrics which are rich or demure, or light or refreshing. For there are covers for any scheme, and it is possible to achieve any effect at all that may be desired. If it is desired to tone up a room lacking in subtlety, a system of loose covers of soft old blues or greens, -accentuated here and there by a cool lilac, may achieve the result. To brighten a room, made depressing by dull, heavy furniture, cover it with bright chintzes of white and light blues.
