A SPOILED DAIRY
LAND FOR RAILWAY A WOMANS PETITION (THE St/N’S Parliamentary Kt porter./ WELLINGTON. To-d. y. Compensation in the sum of £l,oco. and a grant of a small area, of dairying land on a system of deferred payments is sought by Flora Mary Com mi ns, of Mareretu. North Auckland, on whoso behalf Mr. W. Jones. Marsden, presented a petition to Parliament to-day. Petitioner says that in 1919 she bought 384 acres of dairying land at Mareretu. and in 1922. 27 acres were taken by tinPublic Works Department for the construction of the North Auckland railway. As a result of the work, says petitioner, the farm was rendered unsuitable for dairying, owing to various disturbances, and the yield of the herd fell away. She was unable to maintain payment of the interest on the mortgage, and the mortgagee bought in tinproperty and petitioner became bankrupt. Her. creditors. realising the hardships, vetfd her £SO and recommended her discharge.
