RAILWAY OFFICIAL CONFESSES THEFT
DEBITS SUPERANNUATION Association. WELLINGTON, To-day.
Charged with the theft of sums totalling £l7 2s sd, the property of the New Zealand Government, Frederick Diver, aged 35, a clerk in the parcels department of the railways at Wellington, appeared before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., to-day. The chief detective asked for a remand. Mr. Anyon, for the accused, said that Diver had frankly confessed the theft to the stationmaster and. having £ll9 in superannuation due to ' him, had made arrangements for restitution to be made. Counsel asked for bail. The remand was granted, bail of £IOO being allowed conditional on accused reporting daily to the police.
