RIVERHEAD SECTIONS IN KEEN DEMAND

NUMEROUS APPLICATIONS For eight sections in the Riverhead block, situated five miles from the Kaukapakapa railway station, which were thrown open for selection by the North Auckland Land Board this month, applications were lodged by 25 persons, nearly all the applicants asking for more than one allotment. Generally speaking, the applicants were good men, with previous experience in farming. The board considered the applications at length, and allotted nve of the sections, comprising 620 acres. The remaining three sections, totalling 358 acres, which are situated at the back of the block, were not allotted, the board considering the applicants unsuitable for this class of land. These three areas are still >%pen for selection. Provision is made for the acquiring of the freehold upon a certain scale of improvements being effected.
