Above is shown a scheme for preserving the eharm of an old-fashioned room while at the same time removing the dark appearance which so often mars the old-worlu air. In this case, no modern touches have been added, but the chintz, framed against ivory walls and polished woodwork, gives the necessary brightness. Note the lack of crowding in the arrangement of the furniture.
