TENNIS AT WHANGAREI

SEASON OPENED The Whangarei Tennis Club held its official opening on Saturday in pleasant weather. Mr. L. S. Finch., president, extended a welcome to the visitors, some of whom came from Dargaville. The club this season intends to set aside two courts for junior players. The courts played excellently and after the opening ceremony a combined progressive tournament was arranged. The winners were Pickmere and Miss M. Stevens, who defeated Hotson and Miss Mander in the final. The ladies provided afternoon tea.
