BIBLE CLASS RALLY
MEETING AT CLEVEDON Despite the unpropitious weather prevailing yesterday, more than 60 members of the South Auckland Presbyterian Bible classes journeyed to Clevedon to take part in the annual ’‘Bible Class Rally.” Meetings were held in the Presbyterian Church, an-1 lunch was served in the Public Hall adjoining. Representatives were present from Waiuku, Mauku, Tuakau, Pokeno, Papakura, Drury, Papatoetoe and Clevedon. At the morning meeting, various papers were given by members of different classes on a set text-book of New Testament missionary studies. At the next meeting Messrs. E. Way and J. Cumming, Home Missionaries, opened a discussion on the ’’Call to Service,” relating how they had been led in to the work of the church. Owing to rain, the recreation period of the programme was curtailed. The afternoon session commenced at 2 p.m., the first half hour being spent in heartv community hymn singing. Then followed a telling address by the Rev. H. C. Stuart, of Tuakau, on “Not Far From the Kingdom,” after which afternoon tea was served. It was announced that Mr. A. Wtaitelaw, L.L.8., the newly-appointed young men’s travelling secretary, would visit classes in the South Auckland district during the first week in November A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the chairman of the district organisation, the Rev. T. H. Roseveare, and also to the Clevedon people for their kind welcome and hospitality.
