LAND SETTLEMENT IN WEST AUSTRALIA
RENEWED INTEREST By Cable.—Press Association .— Copyright. PERTH, To-day. One result of the visit of Mr. L. S. Amery, Secretary of State for the Dominions, has been to arouse keener interest in land settlement. It is officially stated that never before has there been such a keen desire for land. Many people are coming from the Eastern States to settle. The Government proposes to open up over 100,000 acres of agricultural country in the Esperanee district, making room for thousands of settlers. It would be able to settle the country in five years, if it adopted a big policy for water supply, railways and roads, and made the land available with cheap money.—A. and N.Z.
