FEELING OF RELIEF AT MR. LANG’S DOWNFALL

ELATION AN AUCKLANDER’S RETURN

“A feeling of optimism now pervades the whole State. New South Wales could not have stood very much more of Mr. Lang.”

i Miss V. Roche, an Aucklander wln> i has made good in the publicity world of Sydney, arrived by the Aorangi today on a short visit to her native city, and spoke of the relief experienced Jn I New South Wales following the defeat of the Lang Government. "The change was immediately felt on the Stock Exchange,” said Miss Roche, "and, generally, business men t'eel that we are now in for sane and j level-beaded Government. Mr. Lang’s defeat was an enormous relief.” Nowadays Miss Roche is publicity officer for the Hotel Australia. Sydney’s best-known hostelry. Last year she was invited by the Victorian Government to undertake a tour of their railways. So successful was the propaganda that Miss Roche carried out in Victoria, that she subsequently visited South Australia and Queensland for the same purpose. The cosy office of Miss Roche at the Hotel Australia is well known to many New Zealanders in the New South Wales capital, to whom she is always willing to extend the hand of friendship. For her fellow countrymen she has always a few minutes to spare, and for New Zealand as a whole, the. former Aucklander is one of our best “boosters” in Sydney.
