“CANADIAN CAVEMAN”
A STYLISH WRESTLER BILLY EDWARDS AND CLOTHES The “Canadian caveman/’ Billy Edwards, sauntered along the deck of the Aorangi this morning. He is a champion wrestler, but he looks anything but one. 'VTO on© would ever believe that Edwards is a “caveman,” such as he is billed. No one would ever believe that he is the “world’s roughest wrestler.” Edwards affects extremely decorative sideboards, which grow half-way down his cheek; he wears Oxford bags, which would make an Oxford undergraduate green with envy, tastefullycoloured gloves, and an immaculate cap. And yet this very stylishly dressed “caveman” drew the largest houses in Melbourne for a wrestling bout. He has been appearing there under contract, and is now on his way back to Canada. What is more, he has wrestled with some of the world’s champions, and will do so again. When he wrestled there he was disqualified for being too rough. His knuckle-head lock is famous among wrestlers, and has won him many a bout. “I consider that Australia is the best sporting country in the world,” Edwards said this morning. “Conditions are particularly good. I hope to come back again in the spring, and if it can be arranged I hope to get a match in Auckland. I believe you have some very promising men here.” Edwards considers that wrestling is becoming more and .more popular as a sport. Among other things, it exercises every muscle in the body on an equal basis. The “Canadian caveman” is accompanied by a very charming little wife.
