MUNICIPAL BAND
THE WEEKLY CONCERT The weeklv recital of the Auckland , Municipal Band was much appreciated by a large audience in the Town Hali last evening. A wide variety of works i was presented by Bandmaster Christo- < pher Smith. The first number, a march. “Idomeneo" (Mozart), was very well re- 1 eeived, as was Flotow’s overture, “Martha,” which followed it. An orchestral transcription of "The Old Folks at Home” (Roberts) was tienext item, and the first part of tie programme concluded with the suit “The Shoe.” by Ansell. A piccolo sol*-, “Sylvia Scherzo” (La Thiere), was given by Mr. Hal C. McLennan, and the recital concluded with two selections from the works of Gung’l and Verdi.
