RAIMA RETURNS HOME
BIG DISAPPOINTMENT BACKERS LAMENTING One of the biggest failures seen at Alexandra Park for some time was the trotter Raima, whose unconvincing displays proved costly to backers. The Hastings-trained square-gaiter, was the medium of very solid speculation on each day at Alexandra Park.
hut the half-brother to The Shrew, let his connections and the public down badly. On the opening day he did not begin well, but was putting in good work at the finish, and this encouraged the public to again make him a “hot pot” on the concluding day, but this performance was no better than the previous one. It was the intention of Raima’s owner to leave the trotter at Auckland for the approaching Otahuhu fixture, but his displays were of such a disappointing nature that the idea was abandoned and in company with The Shrew, Raima has returned home.
