PAPATOETOE ODDFELLOWS
HARD-UP SOCIAL A very enjoyable dance was given in the East Tamaki Hall last night by the Brethren of the Loyal Papatoetoe Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., resident in the I East Tamaki district. The evening’s frivolities took the . form of a “hard-up dance,” and some ! very good characters paraded in the march. The music was in the capable hands of Robertson’s Orchestra, and its efforts met with entire approval. The orchestra was appointed to judge the best “hard-up” costume, and when the decisions were announced the approval of those present was spontaneous. In the women’s section Mrs. Filmer, of Onehunga, received a beautii ful box of chocolates, and for the men, i Mr. J. Hamilton, of East Tamaki, a I casket of cigarettes. The duties of j M.C. were capably carried out by Bro. Beadley. j A dainty “hard-up” supper . was served by the members of the lodge.
