RISKED LIVES FOR CATS
BLAZING MOTHER GUARDS KITTENS Two Manchester men, Mr. G. C. Foster and Mr. Samuel Black, risked their lives recently to rescue three cats, Robbie, Minnie and Smut, who wentrapped in a blazing building in Han over Street, London. When the fire \ broke ant on tinsecond floor six employees made their escape, but Foster and Black dashed upstairs time after time with buckettof water and fought the flames until the arrival of the brigade. Black then remembered the cats. The two men made their way through the blinding fumes and managed to chase Bobbie and Minnie to safety. Smut was found in her box guarding her kittens, although the fur on her back was alight. Black managed to chase her downstairs. but he was too overcome to save the kittens. He reached the ground floor and fell unconscious, but was rescued by Henry Goldberg, who carried him to safety. Two floors of the building were gutted.
