LAMBTON QUAY FIRE

DAMAGE TO BUTCHER’S SHOP Press Association. WELLINGTON, Friday. A lire broke out on Lambton Quay to-day in a brick building of two floors owned by Barber and Co., butchers. Considerable damage was done to the rear portion, which contained the freezing plant and machinery. The contents of Barber and Co.’s shop were slightly damaged by smoke. Insurances on the stock-in-trade and machinery were £1.300 in the North British Office, and there was a policy of £5,080 on the building in the South British Office. Tearooms on the second floor, occupied by Mr. J. B. Williams, were slightly damaged by heat and smoke, and were insured in the South British Office for £7OO. Other premises in the building also suffered from smoke and water.
