Round the Churches
Following Holy Communion at 8 a.m. to-morrow*, Canon Grant t'owen will preach at 11 o’clock at St. Paul's Church. A duet from Stainer's “Crucifixion” is to be sung during the service. The evening sermon is on “Evolution, Science and Religion." and an anthem will be rendered by the choir. The Associated Churches of Christ are holding services at Ponsonby Road. Dominion Road. Richmond. Onehung* Avondale, Devonport and Mount Alboi 1 to-morrow*, which will be taken by local preachers. The morning service at the Kdcndale Presbyterian Church is being taken by’ the Rev. L. R. Hunt, and the one in the evening by Mr. J. W Ryburn. A Church Rally Sunday is being held at Somervelle Church, where special sermons will be preached by the minister, the Rev. J. Pattison. The Sunday School anniversary is to be held next Sunday*, when singing by the children should prove an attraction. At the Methodist Central Mission tomorrow evening the Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour will preach on the subject of “Important News.” A special children’s service will be held in the afternoon. Mr. Vernon T. Drew, the general sec - retary, will speak on "The Supreme PYgure of the Ages” at the Young Men’s Christian Association rooms on Sunday afternoon. The leader will be Mr. Kenneth Melvin. The Rev. A. S. Wilson will prea« h at the Grange Road Baptist Chur* h at the morning and evening services to-morrow. Vocal numbers will be given on both occasions. The Sunday School at 2.30 is to be followed b> Bible classes at 3-30 p.m. There is to be an < pen Lyceum Circle at the Spiritual Scientists’ Church. Newton Chambers, at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. In the evening Mrs. Harris-Roberts will deliver h**r usual inspirational address. A student of the New Zealand Baptist College is to conduct the service at the Roy’al Oak Baptist Church tomorrow morning. At 7 p.m. Mr. Angus McKenzie, of the New Zealand Bible Training Institute, will preach. A meeting to be held in the Y.W.C.A Hall on Tuesday next at 2.30 p.m. will be addressed by Miss Margaret Momm of Pennsylvania, the auspices of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. Nurse Clayton is to speak on Wheels God?” at the Spiritualists’ Church in the 1.0.0. F. Hall. Pitt Street, tomorrow, at 7 p.m. There will be a short talk to the children after the main service. An address on the Life After Death is to be delivered at the First Church of Christian Scientists, Symonds Street, during the service to-morrow. The usual Sunday’ School is being heM in the afternoon.
