Mrs. V. Macky, of Mountain Road, Epsom, has left town for a visit to Rotorua. * * * Miss Meg. Russell is the guest of Mrs. Walter Seavill, of Waingaro. * * * Mrs. F. Turnbull, of Wanganui, has returned fgom a visit to Auckland. Miss Laura Stone has returned to Auckland from a visit to Hamilton. Miss X. MelLsop and Miss M. Cutforth, of Papatoetoe, are on a visit to Rotorua. Mrs. W. Russell-Wood, who has been visiting Hamilton, has returned to Auckland. * * * Mr. and Mrs. R. Cutler, of Acton, London, who are shortly completing a lengthy stay in New Zealand, are the guests of Mrs. W. J. Marsh, of Ayr Street, Parnell, with their daughter, Mrs. Arthur Burt, of Glenhope, Nelson. * * * Mr. and Mrs. E; H. Storey, of Chicago, and Madame L. Alwyn, of England, are at the Grand Hotel. At the Hotel Cargen are Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Walsh, of Gisborne. Commander and Mrs. J. H. 'Godfrey left by train for Wellington last evening. Commander and Mrs. Godfrey left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. * * * Miss Margaret Stoddart, who gave a most successful concert in Rotorua recently, has returned to Auckland. * * * Miss K. Major is leaving this evening to spend a few days in Rotorua. Mrs. A. Wernham and Miss Joan Wernham leave town to-day for Rotorua. * * * Miss Joyce Johnston left town today for a visit to Rotorua. Miss A. Taylor leaves to-day for a visit to Rotorua. AN ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Miss Barbara Clark, only daughter of Mrs. Norris, of Devonport, to Mr. Arthur Frank Brewer, of Te Awamutu, and only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Brewer, of Tauranga. DANCE PARTY On Wednesday evening a very enjoyable dance was given in honour of Miss Mizpah Hutchison, at 218 Remuera Road. Multi-coloured streamers formed a gay setting for the many charming frocks worn by the. dancers. The guests were received by Miss Hutchison, wearing a frock of powderblue crepe de chine. Miss E. Hutchison wore a dainty frock of old rose georgette, beaded in crystal. Miss Mizpah Hutchison was in apricot charmeuse and silver lace. Mrs. G. G. Marriott wore peacockblue georgette over satin. Mrs. W. R. Andrew’s frock was of navy blue crepe faille inset with ecru lace. Among those present were:—The Misses Graham. Wills, Bentley, Wilcox (2), Laerey, Harrop. Good, Paterson, Wade, Bull, Gill, Tills, McCoy, Le Mont and Wilkinson. MOTHERS’ UNION PAPATOETOE BRANCH The Papatoetoe branch of the Mothers’ Union held a well-attended meeting yesterday afternoon in St. George’s Hall. The service was read by Mrs. Bewes, and Mrs. Brad street delivered a very interesting address, her subject being “Women Wanted.” Mrs. Sly presided at the organ, and Mesdames F. E. Carr and Winskill dispensed a dainty afternoon tea.
