FIRST DAY AT TE RAPA Racing in Threatening Weather (Special to THE SUX) HAMILTON, To-day. THE Waikato Racing Club's Spring Meeting was opened at Te Rapa to-day in threatening weather. Nevertheless, there was a good attendance, and the track was in very fair order. “~ Results:—

Time, 2.45. Pouri’s Surprise Ned Kelly was the early pacemaker, showing the way over the second fence to Le Cheval, Red Comet. Gold Rep, Pouri, Slump and Lucilius. Going along the back, Pouri made a forward move and led at the home bend from Le Cheval and Ned Kelly, Red Comet, Mount Marta and Gold Rep. In the run home Pouri was not troubled to win by two and a-half lengths from Mount Marta, with Red Comet two lengths away third. Ned Kelly was fourth, with Gold Rep. Slump and Lucilius next. Royal Day fell at the second fence. IV. Tricklebank, the rider of Royal Day. was sent to hospital with a badlv bruised thigh. Orclius and Te Tama led into the straight from Miss Potoa, Day Guide, Rose Swift, Te. Waka and Kerry Dance. A pood finish saw Miss Potoa win nicely by a neck from Day Guide, with Te Tama third and Te Waka fourth. In order named were Lord Abbey, Orchus, Tikutama and Doublemint. At the distance Auricjlus came through to win by one and a-half lengths from Orbit, with La Roma a neck away third. Master Roley was fourth with Bright Comet and Master Lu next. Mint Leaf Gets Home Delightment led past the stand and out of the straight from Queen Arch, Master Doon, Desert Glow, Eden Hall Te Kara, Mint Leaf and Lord Star’. There was very little alteration going around the back. Delightment and Mint Deaf were together into the straight, just ahead of Queen Arch, Desert Glow, Master Doon, Eden Hall, Te Kara, Royal Mint and Lord Star. Ina, splendid finish Mint Leaf won by a neck from Delightment, with Royal Mint a similar distance away, third. Latest Race Results will be found In the Stop Press Column as they come to hand.
RAIN AT TRENTHAM
MORNING TRACK WORK TWO-YEAR-OLDS IN ACTION Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. Light rain fell all night at Trentham and the grass tracks this morning were gTeasy on the surface. The following two-year-olds strode along on the course proper: Child’s Play, Full Heather, Flicker, Second Wind, Briar Root, First Ruler, Knightlike, Silver Rule. On the plough: Lucky Light covered five furlongs in 1.7, Limerick and Shy Guest four in 51sec. Kilbronsyth and Joybird three in 37sec; Lysander and Benzora four in 50sec. Beacon Light and Shirley did pace work on the grass. Teri and Tea Miss did half a mile in 51sec; Mask, Damaris. Ditto, Joy King in 50&. Star Stranger was brought home by Star God, over seven furlongs, in 1.33 3-5. Gascony went four furlongs in 49 4-5. Imitation did four furlongs in 55sec; Lilock and Thurnbell six in 1.20; Doree four in 51; Silver Coot and Paper Boy four in 49 4-5: Boy seven in 1.35; Vigilance four in 52 3-5. Others to do pace work included Pangolin, Lucre, Peshwa, Koauau, Nippy and Ti Tree.
