Produce Van Wrecked.— —A motorvan, carrying fruit, eggs. etc., valued at £ls, went over a bank and fell 25 feet in Hamilton yesterday. The owner, Mr. Voysey, escaped with a few bruises. Beautifying Tauranga. —The Tauranga Beautifying Society has been doing a lot of tree-planting lately, and the appearance of the town has been greatly improved. It is possible that a borough gardener will be appointed. Car and Cycle Collision. —As a result of a collision between his motor-cycle and a motor-car driven by Mr. J. Hopson at Lepperton on Wednesday evening, Mr. E. Avery, of Kaponga, was admitted to the New Plymouth Hospital with a compound fracture of the left leg. Trout for Hauraki— —With the damming of the Waitakaruru Stream near the Hauraki Plains County boundary, on the Paeroa-Pokeno main highway, for the Hauraki Plains West water supply scheme, a long reservoir was created, and on Wednesday last 10,000 trout fry, received from the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, were liberated therein. Dental Clinic. —Stanley Bay School Committee has made a request to the Devonport Council to assist in finding a room in Devonport for a dental clinic for the treatment of children attending Devonport, Vauxhall. Stanley Bay and Belmont Schools. The council regretted that it was not able to assist in the finding of premises. Mr. Hislop declared it was a question for the Education Department. A Prospective Client. —“We can't interfere between the police and a prospective client,” was the assertion of the Mayor of Devonport. last ;iiglit when a letter was read from a motorist asking the council to intervene and stop the police taking threatened action against him for leaving his car on the street while buses and motorettes monopolised most of the room on recognised stands. New Road Opened. —The Pekapek iWairau Roads section of the Paero iPokeno main highway, near Kerepeehi. Hauraki Plains County, has now r>e?n opened for traffic, the clay surface having been disced and graded. Formation work is now being undertaken in preparation for metalling. The opening of this section of the highway obviates a deviation of several miles. The Ngatea-Kaihere Road is also open tor traffic, and communication between the northern and southern portion of the county is now assured for the summer.
