THE CANADIAN SCOTTISH.—The Canadian Scottish, at present in the South discharging, is expected to leave Lyttelton to-day for Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff. She returns to Wellington, Napier and Auckland to’ fill up with New Zealand produce. Due here on September 31, she is to be dispatched next day for New Y’ork, Boston and Halifax. RUAPEHU FROM HOME.—The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised that the liner Ruapehu arrived at Wellington at 4.20 p.m. yesterday from London and Southampton, and berthed at 6.15 p.m. Passengers for Auckland arrived by this morning’s express. The Ruapehu left Wellington again this morning for Port Chalmers, thence Lyttelton and Bluff to land her inward cargo. MATAROA LATE.—The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mataroa has been delayed at Napier and now leaves there this afternoon for Auckland, where she is due to-morrow evening to complete loading for Home. The local agents, A. S. Paterson and Company, expect to dispatch the liner finally from Auckland at daybreak on Saturday. October 29, for Southampton and London, via Panama. HULK’S LAST RESTING PLACE. After about 25 years of useful service as a coal hulk for the Union Steam Ship Company, the La Plata was towed to the south side of Quail Island. Lyttelton, last Thursday afternoon, where she was placed on the mud flats to end her days. This place has been a repository for a few other old-timers, including the once famous Mulloeh. Before leaving her, her stern was blown out with a charge of gun-cotton to prevent her floating off again.
