TRAWLER RUNS AGROUND

The steam trawler Thomas Currell, belonging to Sanford, Ltd., returning to Oneliunga yesterday morning with a cargo of fish, went aground opposite Blockhouse Bay, in the Manukau Harbour. It is said that the strong glare of the sun in the helmsman’s eyes caused him to mistake the black buoy for the red, and the vessel, going at full speed, ran on a soft mudbank. There she remained until high tide at seven o’clock this morning, when she was hauled off by the s.s. Arapawa, and reached the Oneliunga Wharf under her own steam at 5.45 a.m., being none the worse for her mishap.

The cargo of fish, having been packed in ice, is undamaged.
